Absolutely must have a keyboard for your iPad? We've explored concepts that make the iPad look like a netbook such as the lapDock clamcase Folio cases have a completely different style and three models are hitting the market within weeks. Pictured here is the PADACS Toccata with a built-in Bluetooth 2.0 keyboard.
The folio doesn't add to the size of the iPad (except in thickness) and the keyboard lasts 45 hours on one charge. PADACS will ship the Toccata Keyboard the end of September for an introductory price of $69.95. Toccata is available for pre-order now.
For $100, Kensington will offer its KeyFolio iPad case, including a rubberized keyboard with iPad-specific function keys. The KeyFolio launches in October and charges with an included USB to Micro USB cable. KeyFolio features on/off and connect switches for pairing Bluetooth. The Kensington case also acts as a stand with multiple positions for iPad viewing. KeyFolio's power should last for months on a single charge.
Sena will ship its iPad Keyboard Folio on October 7 for an introductory pre-order price of $129.99. Besides the integrated Bluetooth keyboard, Sena's version includes a recessed collapsible back stand and a side-folding design. The Ipad keyboard folio is handcrafted from genuine Napa leather and comes in four colors: black, orange, red and purple.
Many more of these folio-style keyboard cases are in the works, as several companies have licensed the same rubberized Bluetooth keyboard to fit into their specific case designs. The keyboard itself resists spills and dirt thanks to silicone rubber construction, and soft keys protect the iPad screen when folios are closed. Reports have indicated that typing action on the keyboard is similar to a normal netbook keyboard.
