Limited Edition Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan - Available to Ferrari Owners for a Cool $300,000

All of the high-end automakers with racing aspirations have watchmaking partners. Cars and watches just seem to go together, plain and simple. But some brands are harder to extend to the world of watches and ferrari found this out the hard way with their collaboration with Offical penari Initially, the company's clean aesthetic and stellar craftsmanship seemed like a perfect match. But in practice, the merging of the two always seemed a bit off. Slapping the prancing horse on the crown and at 12 o' clock and using black, red and yellow dials and markers never seem to do the trick. And so, the two parted ways.

Now, it appears that Ferrari has found a partner that exudes the flair and exclusivity that was so lacking the last go-round. Swiss watchmaking atelier cabestanhas been selected as their new partner and highly regarded designer Jean-Francois Ruchonnet has just introduced the pre-production rendering seen here. The Scuderia Ferrari One by Cabestan offers vertical tourbillon movement with plenty of aluminum and exotic carbon Fiber thrown in the mix as an ode to its racing heritage.

To reach deep into Ferrari DNA, Jean-François Ruchonnet teamed up with the Ferrari design team in Maranello, led by Design Director Flavio Manzoni. The two worked together to identify elements in Ferrari's Formula 1 race cars that would become the basic design components.

The case embodies speed, power and aerodynamic perfection, and is made of a titanium alloy created for components of Ferrari Formula 1 cars. The single crystal enhances the distinctive visual lineage that is unmistakably Ferrari. On the sides, a special magnesium alloy was used to create likenesses of race car wheels and the lug nuts, that are emblematic of motor sports.

The motor is perfectly visible with its large wheel, stylishly engraved lightweight aluminum rotary drums and carbon fiber center plate. Even the leather strap, captures the emotion of Daytona leather seats of Ferrari automobiles.

The nucleus of the motor with its vertical gear-trains is a vertical tourbillon coupled with a miniature chain and fusée, a 6-speed automatic transmission, that compensates the torque curve of the mainspring and delivers a constant force to the movement resulting in amazing accuracy : ± 1 second per day.

The result is an exceptional timepiece, perfectly embodying the passion, excitement and performance of the Scuderia ferrari.

Apple schedules mysterious Mac OS X press event

Apple has sent invitations to a press event titled “Back to the Mac” that is scheduled for October 20 at the company’s Cupertino, California headquarters.

The company did not disclose specific information about what the event would be used for; rather, it simply opted to send a sleek teaser invite only saying it would be about its Mac operating system.

Over the last couple of years or so, Mac users have felt more and more left out by the company as Apple seemed to have devoted more resources towards its iPhone, and in particular, its iOS mobile operating system.

Just over a year ago, the company released Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the latest big upgrade to the Mac operating system that improved load times and other under-the-hood enhancements, including marginal changes to its user interface, such as by enhancing expose.

The company is likely to use the press event to showcase Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, the next major installment of OS X. The company would also likely confirm a time frame for release dates, and possibly even pricing.

Apple is not expected to use the event to unveil any new products, like an all-touch tablet computer running on Mac OS X.

The company was recently awarded a number of patents by the U.S. Patent Office, related to multi-touch technologies that were not only confined to mobile devices like the iPhone.

The next major Mac OS X version will include multi-touch support, with the company releasing the first ever Mac computer to include a touch sensitive display by the end of 2011, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In the latest PC sales numbers published by IDC Research, Apple is now the third largest computer maker in the United States for Q3 2010 with a market share of 10.6-percent, edging out Acer Inc. from the third spot.

The Apple stock (NASDAQ:AAPL) today is trading at $301.32 per share, an all time high in the company’s history, with momentum building on sales of the iPhone 4 and the company’s iPad tablet computer.

Top investment firms estimate the Apple stock to trend closer to $400 in the coming months.

The World's Slimmest Sports Watch

The new sporty design V140G Watch, which Obaku will launch at Basel World this spring, is a fusion of slim, clean design and a tough, action oriented watch. The new Obaku V140G sports watch incorporates the best elements from both worlds into one watch. Obaku is originally the name of a branch of the Zen philosophy, which emphasizes simplicity in life. This philosophy goes well with the background of the two Danish designers, Lau Liengaard Ruge and Christian Mikkelsen, behind the watches, who are both trained in the minimalist Scandinavian design tradition.

The combination of clean, Danish design with a sporty feel is represented even in the smallest details of this watch. The index of the watch are bulky in the shape as on a traditional sports watch, but have been shortened to a small square to give a clean impression and to leave lots of space in the dial, giving the face of the watch and open, clean appeal. The bezel has slim clean lines and four numbers, which allow for the traditional function of the turnable top ring while still giving an overall impression of a clean, designer watch.

Chinese Firm Offers To Set Up Cell Network In London Tube For Free

A report released on Sunday says that Huawei, the Chinese tech giants, may have offered to install a mobile phone network in the London Underground system, worth 50 million pounds completely free of cost. They have also promised to get this project over with before the start of the London Olympics scheduled for 2012. The Sunday Times reported that this project, worth an equivalent of $80 million, is meant as a gift from China to England for the Olympics as coming from one Olympic host to another. Mobile transmitters will be planted by the company on the ceilings of the underground tunnels, enabling passengers to talk on their cell phones from inside the trains, for the first time ever.

The payment for the installation works has been agreed to by major cellphone operators such as Vodafone and O2, while the intentions of Huawei are to earn its share from maintenance fees. It has been confirmed by Transport for London, the body of officials that is responsible for the administration of the transport system of the English capital, that there had indeed been talks about getting a mobile network attached to the underground. However, they did not confirm on any such negotiations with Huawei.

A spokesman for the governing body said that the Mayor of the capital along with Transport for London is in talks with various mobile phone operators and suppliers about installing a cellular network in the underground Tube tunnels. However, a lawmaker from the Conservative party argued that such an agreement with a Chinese firm providing a cellular network can pose security risks. He drew a parallel with the large portion of cyber-attacks in England that come from China and that as London will be a global spotlight during the event, there was no sense in trusting a Chinese firm with such a sensitive job.

Rumour: Apple is Working On Bigger iPod touch

According to AppleInsider Apple may be plans to bring bigger iPod touch or smaller iPad. The device is sort of 6-inch screen, but some speculations says it’s more likely to be a big iPod Touch than a small iPad. The size of the device is expected to have the screen size between the iPod touch and the iPad.

Apple Insider’s informant is none other than Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who correctly predicted last May that the iPhone 4 would sport the 960×640 resolution Retina display and come loaded with twice the RAM of the iPad.

According to Kuo’s most recent prediction, the iPad 3 will have a screen with double the resolution — 2048×1536 — of the current iPad.

It was originally rumored that the iPad 2 would get the Retina display upgrade. But subsequent reports indicated that the yet-to-be-confirmed second-generation device will come with a display that is thinner than the original iPad, but which has the same 1024×768 resolution.

This, Kuo told Apple Insider last month, is “because of limited manufacturing yield rates,” which make it impossible for screen producers to meet Apple’s demands in time for the iPad 2′s release.

All that said, the iPad 3 might not actually be an “iPad” at all. Instead, rumors indicate that the device may be placed into the iPod line.

Whatever it’s called, the device’s arrival appears imminent. Kuo has confirmed that a device, sized between the current iPad and the 3.5-inch iPhone and running Apple’s iOS operating system, is in the works, with a release date in the second half of 2011. Czech site SuperApple reported Friday that a similar-sounding device, with a screen around six inches, is on its way.

iPad 2 Image Leaked on the Internet

Folks over at BGR got hold of the above iPad image from a tipster, who has claimed it as iPad 2. The leaked iPad 2 image has the rear image capturing camera and its design pretty much resembles the first generation iPad. Apart from this, we don’t think there is any considerable change in the leaked design.

Some developers have confirmed that Apple’s next iPad device will feature two camers i.e. front and rear facing camera. Previously, it has been rumored that iPad 2 will have thin design, large display and SD Card support, but we will have to wait and see what Apple is going to introduce in the event.
